Technical Theatre Production

The program in Technical Theatre Production serves those students who are interested in working in the technological areas of production of theatre, film, television, special events, live entertainment, advertising, etc. Technical Theatre Production is a four-year magnet program which combines the study of lighting, sound, costume, and set design with the practical knowledge for execution. This is an innovative and original program not offered anywhere in the state as a single program. Students enrolled in the Technical Theatre Production Magnet have opportunities for professional instruction and experiences. Graduate students have already received job offers, as well as scholarships, in the field of technical production.

Students will have many opportunities to perform in support of the other performing arts programs, as well as many school and community activities. Some specialized instruction will be conducted in blocks by adjunct faculty from the ranks of professional production personnel.

The program consists of two one-hour periods per day. In addition, there will be occasional extra time spent in rehearsals, set building, and technical work after school and on some weekends. Students will also attend out of school workshops, seminars, and performance experiences.
