The secondary Magnet Program is established to provide students unique opportunities in the fine arts and pre-engineering. It offers excellent preparation for college, professional training, and an opportunity for individual creativity. It allows students to have hands-on experience through university, business, and community partnerships. It teaches analytical resolution of problems and practical application of theoretical concepts. Creative opportunities are available for interrelating all disciplines of the performing arts.

About Lee

Lee High School is the site of both the Magnet Program for Creative and Performing Arts and the Pre-engineering Magnet Program. It is a "school within a school" magnet program. The students are integrated into the mainstream curriculum, as well as the areas of the magnet program for which they have been selected. These programs enrich the general curriculum and offer opportunities to the regular, non-magnet student that are not available in other high schools within the system. These opportunities include nationally-acclaimed engineering, musical theater, vocal/choral and drama programs, ties to the arts and the technological community through the individual programs, and the opportunity to study with professionals in the field of drama, creative writing, vocal music, musical theater, technical theater production, visual art, dance, and engineering. Our students find scholarships and employment opportunities awaiting them as they continue their artistic careers at a higher level. Many of our graduated students are working or studying successfully in their field after completing this program. The development of the Lee Lyric Theatre - the combined resources of the magnet programs, as well as other areas of the school - has given our students professional performing experience that has lifted them above the average high school graduate in poise and excellence of performing skills.

With an enrollment of less than 1000 students, Lee is one of the smaller high schools in the system. Because of the number of students, Lee High is able to give each student maximum individualized attention, while remaining large enough to offer a great selection of advanced level courses and extensive programs in all areas. It boasts strong academic, fine arts, and extra-curricular concentrations. At Lee High School there is a sense of community and a positive and friendly learning environment. Each student is accepted for his or her individual worth and capabilities. The Lee FAMILEE celebrates diversity, while offering opportunities for inclusion. Students receive positive feedback for accomplishments in all areas - academic, artistic, and extra-curricular. At Lee High we know more than just a student number; we know the faces, the names, and the dreams of our young people!
