Sara
Argiro has worked in professional, college and
community theatre for the past 15 years and is
excited to be joining the Lee Magnet family as
the Theatre Performance teacher. She received
her Master of Arts degree in English from
UAHuntsville and her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre
from The University of South Alabama. Sara also
holds certification in Musical Theatre from The
American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA)
NYC.
While studying at USA she received the Irene Ryan nomination from the American College Theatre Festival (ACTF) twice for roles in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and The Bacchae, and received the Drama Department’s award for Best Actress in The Bacchae and Romeo and Juliet
While in NYC she studied under professional directors, musicians and actors most notably the 2010 Tony nominated director Ms. Marcia Milgrom Dodge, the coveted Musical Theatre coach and former casting director Mr. Jeff Dunn, and voice under Mr. Alan Bowers. In addition to Musical Theatre, Sara also studied the Stanislavsky acting method, Improvisation, voice and speech techniques, and commercial television while attending AMDA.
Since returning to the Huntsville area Sara has worked with and performed in Theatre Huntsville’s Shakespeare on the Mountain productions as well as assisted and acted as consultant for several of the area’s high school productions. Sara’s favorite stage credits include Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, Luisa in The Fantasticks, Agave in The Bacchae, and Domina in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Sara has also worked backstage as a professional dresser and costumer at The Biloxi Grand Theatre for the touring productions of CATS, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof and Starlight Express.

Dr. Dan Hornstein

Dr. Hornstein graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s in Music Education (With highest honors). He received his M.M. in Orchestral/Opera Conducting from Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and his doctorate in music education from North Texas State University. He also completed additional doctoral work in music theory and musicology from Catholic University. Dr. Hornstein was member of the Air Force Band for several years and studied conducting and cello in Munich, Germany and in Czechoslovakia. He speaks fluent German and French and has been a professional symphonic and opera conductor. Dr. Hornstein was awarded and Artist Fellowship from the North Dakota Council on the Arts and a Fulbright Scholarship to Munich. He was the first American to become a member of Burger-Sanger-Zunft Munich musical brotherhood and was a featured vocal soloist with the Munich Madrigal Choir. He also served as associate principal cellist in the Munich orchestra. Dr. Hornstein has taught at Minot State University, where he played cello on the Faculty String Quartet, was a member of the Minot Chamber Chorale and the Western Plains Opera. He also taught at the University of North Alabama and was awarded the American String Teachers Association “String Teacher of the Year” in 2000. He was also featured as one of the state’s top 10 music educators by the Music Educators’ National Conference in its publication “Teaching Music” in October of 2000. Dr. Hornstein is presently the president of the Alabama Orchestra Association, a division of Alabama Music Educator’s Association. He is site manager and organizer of the Alabama All-State Orchestra. He also serves as the national faculty consultant for Music “Advanced Placement Exams” for the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, New Jersey and on the Alabama Public Radio Board of Directors. Dr. Hornstein has extensive experience as an educator and conductor throughout the United States.
Nicole Drake Hunkapillar

Niki Hunkapillar is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, from which she earned a fine arts degree in dance. Since the age of twelve she has danced with Community Ballet here in Huntsville, where she is now an instructor. Niki is also a member of the Huntsville Ballet Company, and has danced the roles of Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, the “Diva” in Shindig, and Black Magic Woman in Colors in Motion, among many others. For her performances as the Sugar Plum Fairy, and as the Lilac Fairy in the production of Sleeping Beauty, she was honored with a Wings Awards from the Huntsville Arts Council. Niki has also served as an instructor for the Universal Dance Association and on the teaching staff of River City Performing Arts in Decatur and The Dance Company in Madison. She is in demand as a choreographer for local theater communities as well.
